NPAs and City Boards Welcome Youth

Youth on Boards Leadership Institute

Leadership Institute is open to young people who are interested in city government and neighborhood planning. Community service hours can be earned, and the experience will include peer group planning for Youth Agenda for the city. This is a great opportunity to work with city leaders to build a better Burlington.

Contact: Wanda Hines, Social Equity Investment Project (SEIP) for details about the full range of opportunities. If you live in the North End, you can email your North End Neighborhood Planning Assembly <4and7npa@gmail.com> for more information.

The Leadership Institute will offer a series of leadership training experiences throughout the summer, led by youth and mentors who serve in city government. At the end of the orientation, youth will be matched with available board openings according to their interests. The peer group will continue to meet and create a Youth Agenda for the city which will be presented to City Council in June, 2013.

All are welcome. There are no requirements except interest, enthusiasm, and commitment. There are 20 openings, which will be filled  on a first come, first enrolled basis.
